How it's done: This tire is designed for high-speed road driving using a durable silica tread compound that delivers all-season handling and traction. The notched outboard shoulder is supported by a continuous rib for on-road steering response, straight-line stability and ride comfort. Three rows of independent central tread blocks with interlocking sipes enhance traction in light snow. Four broad grooves widen at the tread surface to reduce the risk of hydroplaning and keep stones from catching in the tread. Road noise is muffled through high-tech tuning of the treads.
Inside, twin steel belts give strength, while a polyester cord body helps cushion the ride. All sizes of the CrossContact LX come with a flanged lower sidewall to reduce the risk of curb damage to expensive wheels.
